Facebook image sizes for 2026
The dimensions that matter for Pages, profiles, groups and events, quoted from Facebook’s Help Center where Meta publishes them.
Page cover photo
Facebook’s Help Center states that a Page cover:
- loads fastest as an sRGB JPG, 851×315 px, under 100 KB;
- must be at least 400×150 px;
- on computers is shown left-aligned with full bleed in a 16:9 frame, and on phones in a 2.4:1 frame;
- is overlapped by the profile picture by about 40 px on mobile.
Practical advice: design at 851×315 (or 1702×630 for sharpness), keep important content in the centre, and nothing critical in the lower-left corner. Meta also notes that logos and text often look better as PNG.
Profile picture
Meta: displays at 176×176 on computers and 196×196 on smartphones, is cropped to a circle, and should be 320×320 px for best quality.
Group and event covers
Meta’s help pages don’t currently list a single fixed size for these. The sizes most design tools and templates use are 1640×856 for group covers and 1920×1005 for event covers (about 1.91:1); treat them as good starting points rather than official numbers. Keep text in the middle band because the visible area changes between desktop and app.
Posts and links
| Portrait post | 1080×1350 (4:5) |
| Square post | 1080×1080 |
| Link preview image | 1200×630 (1.91:1) |
Make any of these with the cover photo maker, which shows the mobile crop and the profile overlap as you position your image.
