How FB Media Tools works

FB Media Tools is an independent tool for saving and preparing Facebook media. It is not affiliated with Meta.

Architecture in one paragraph

When you paste a link, a Cloudflare Worker requests the public Facebook page without your cookies. Your browser parses the response to find available media streams: progressive MP4 files, DASH video and audio representations, the cover image and caption files. Your browser attempts to download available streams directly from Facebook’s CDN. Source restrictions, expired links or network policies can prevent access. Merging video and audio, converting to MP3, re-encoding to H.264, resizing and compressing all run in your browser via WebCodecs and the open-source Mediabunny library.

What we store

Selected files and pasted page source stay in your browser. Public-link lookups fetch the source through a Cloudflare Worker without your Facebook cookies. Source responses are not cached. Cloudflare may process request metadata for delivery, security and reliability.

Fallbacks

This edition downloads and processes media in your browser. If Facebook blocks a source lookup or your network blocks its media CDN, a download may be unavailable. There is no server relay or server conversion fallback. Creator tools work with files on your device.
