How to download a Facebook video on iPhone
No app needed. An up-to-date Safari can download, merge and save Facebook videos straight to Photos.
Steps
- In the Facebook app, open the video or Reel, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to FB Media Tools downloader. Tap Paste.
- Choose Best (or HD for a smaller file). If you plan to use the video in iMovie or send it on WhatsApp and the best stream says AV1, tick Convert to H.264.
- When the download finishes, tap Save to Photos / Share → Save Video. It now sits in your camera roll.
If you dismissed the share sheet, the file is still in Files → Downloads. Open it, tap the share icon, and choose Save Video.
Troubleshooting
- “Download failed” on very long videos: iPhones limit how much memory a tab may use. For videos over about 30 minutes pick the HD file, which streams directly to Downloads.
- The video plays without sound: you chose a video-only stream from a post with no separate audio. Use the HD file instead.
- The link won’t work: make sure it’s the post link, not your feed or a profile. Links like
facebook.com/share/v/…are fine.
